If you require the specialist services of a public notary, one of our partners, Ann Frost is qualified in this area. The provision of notarial services is completely separate to and independent from the services offered by Smith Chamberlain.
Typically you will need to see a Notary if you or your business have a document which needs to be prepared or authenticated for use abroad.
The fees are charged on a time basis (including the time required for the notary to subsequently record the notarial act in her register) and this will be discussed at the outset when the appointment is made and again at the meeting. There may be additional disbursements payable for legalisation of documents at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office or Foreign Embassies.
Evidence of identity (e.g. current passport) and of address (e.g. recent utility bill or bank statement) will always be required. Other documents may have to be produced depending on the transaction. To comply with obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and all Money Laundering Regulations, the right is reserved to ask for evidence of the origin of any funds provided or involved in the transaction. |
